According to the National Cancer Institute of Canada, nearly 1 in 2 Canadians will develop cancer during their lifetime and 1 in 4 will die from cancer

I will partake in a major cycling event this summer. On July 7^th and 8^th, I will cycle the distance between Montreal and Quebec City to raise funds during the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer. I will bike along Quebec’s scenic roads with thousands of other cyclists. This will be my first experience of this kind. I anticipate that the event will be challenging, but I am sure it will be a great experience!

I participate in the event to do something effective against cancer. When one is fortunate in life, it is possible to not realize how cancer is a devastating disease that strikes everywhere around us. Life really can quickly change. Against all odds, over the last two years, two of my best childhood friends have lost their mother to cancer.
